Hospitality Exchange: You stay with them, then later they stay with you.

Long Term Exchange: Exchange lasting 6 weeks or more.

Weekend Exchange: A short break option.

Rental: You offer to rent your home or holiday home to a member.

Bed & Breakfast: Offer B&B to members as paying guests.

Homesitting wanted: You offer a member accommodation to look after your home.

Homesitting offered: You offer to look after a member's home in exchange for accommodation.

Youth/Student Hospitality: For children of Home Exchange members.

Non-simultaneous Exchange: Your exchange need not be at the same time, e.g. you stay in their home in July, they stay in yours in January.

Members pay an annual membership fee (Oct/Sept).

Full Membership: Directory & Web membership.Your details are published in a directory and appear on our HomeLink Website.You receive the directory.

Web Only Membership: Your details appear on the HomeLink Website and in one directory but you do NOT receive any directories.

Photograph: 1 photograph is included in the fee,extra photos may be added for additional fee.

Additional listing: For your second home, Rental, B&B, Homesitting or Youth Exchange.

Unlisted Membership: No listing, but you receive the directories and can offer an exchange to any listed member.

What you do now?

You may not be making your holiday plans right now, but it is a good idea to get listed in the directory as soon as possible.See below for this year's subscription rates and closing dates. Then you will have what you need and be ready to go whenever you wish. You will probably receive some offers to think about in advance.

So take these 3 steps RIGHT AWAY
1. Choose your favourite holiday destinations and dates. Consider adding that you are open to offers anywhere at any time.

2. Fill in the Application Form - rates at bottom of this page.

3. Send it together with your cheque and photograph.

4. You receive the directory and the "How to Arrange an Exchange" booklet.
5. Select several offers that suit you. Then telephone, fax, e-mail or write to as many members as possible. Off-peak times, phoning is cheaper. Meanwhile you will be receiving letters in the post that may tempt you to quite different places than you had planned.

6. Once you have agreed on an exchange, you write to each other to confirm details - fill in and sign the Agreement Form.

7. Write up your "Housebook" with safety tips, adding information or brochures on local attractions.

8. Leave your house clean and tidy. A welcoming home-from-home is what members want. You should clear enough cupboard space so your guests can settle in comfortably.

9. Ask a hospitable friend to drop in and see how your guests are doing, and perhaps invite them over.

10. Have a wonderful holiday.
